Most comparison sites in this sector publish rankings without explaining their sources. We take the opposite approach. We read published fee schedules, contact providers directly for figures they do not disclose, and set out what we find.

How the site is funded

We earn a commission when readers request information through links on this site. Some companies also appear as Featured Partner placements, which appear in a clearly labelled box, separate from the editorial ranking below it. Compensation buys placement in that box. It does not buy a rating.

Where a fee schedule is not published, and we cannot obtain written confirmation, we mark the figure as unavailable rather than estimate it, and that company is excluded from our cost comparisons. Where a company has asked us to raise its rating, we have declined. The full rating methodology is published on this site.

What you will find here

What you will not find

Predictions about the gold price. Claims that precious metals cannot lose value. A recommendation about what belongs in your portfolio.
